Cleaning vinegar applications 

Cleaning vinegar, also known as vinegar essence or household vinegar, is used for a variety of household cleaning tasks. Here are some of the most common uses of SEL® cleaning vinegar:

  • All-purpose cleaner: Diluted with water, vinegar can be used as an effective all-purpose cleaner for surfaces such as worktops, tiles, windows and floors.
  • Descaling: Vinegar is an excellent agent for removing limescale from kettles, coffee machines, shower heads, taps and other appliances.
  • Odour removal: Vinegar can neutralise unpleasant odours from various areas of the household, such as the kitchen, fridge or drains.
  • Stain removal: Vinegar can help remove certain types of stains, e.g. coffee or tea stains on cups or discolouration on clothing.
  • Shiny surfaces: Vinegar can be used to clean glass surfaces, mirrors and stainless steel to give them a shiny, streak-free lustre.
  • Toilet cleaning: Due to its disinfectant properties, vinegar is good for cleaning and descaling toilets.
  • Furniture care: Vinegar can be used to clean and care for wooden furniture. However, it should be dosed carefully so as not to damage the wood.
  • Insect repellent: The odour of vinegar can deter insects such as flies and ants.

However, it is important to note that vinegar is an acidic substance and is therefore not safe on all surfaces. For example, vinegar can cause damage to natural stone or other sensitive surfaces. It is therefore advisable to test it on an inconspicuous area before use or to enquire about its use on specific surfaces. In addition, vinegar should not be mixed with bleach or other cleaning agents, as hazardous vapours may be produced.
